Four RAFSA crews entered the 2000 Class National Championships, hosted by the Royal Torbay Yacht Club from 8- 13 Aug 21. The Event was extremely well attended with a record 47 entries, 16 of which were Armed Forces boats. Organisation was superb, 10 races were delivered in a range of conditions including strong breeze, heavy rain, sleet and light airs. Off-the-water, there was a range of activities to choose from in the Torquay area and food/drink in the historic RTYC Clubhouse is worth a special mention. Results were extremely close, the Event being won by 2020 champions Rob and Sarah Burridge, with 3 of the RAFSA crews managing to finish in the top 11 spots. The 2000 Nationals was once again a superb week of sailing at a world-class venue. The Class is extremely friendly and particularly encouraging of novices, youth and family sailors, this year seeing a Silver Fleet of 18, a Novice fleet of 7 and a Family Fleet of 9. Full results and press-release here.
There are still 2000 Class Millennium Series Traveller Events left to sail in 2021 (see 2000 Class Association website). It would be great to see more RAFSA attendance, the Fleet delivers competition for all standards of sailor and will improve your skills!
